Lyon County Manager Jeff Page said in a statement that much of the flooding on Tuesday was Minnesota due to run-off created by heavy rain, not the Carson River. Crews spent a lot of time clearing out plugged drains. There was a lot of water flowing down Pottassi Road and Rancho Road in east Dayton Valley, he said, and residents were asked to shelter in place. The concern for the county was to clear roads, especially with another storm on the way. Larry and Ruth Smith said their home flooding back in 2005, and despite some assurances from county officials, it flooded again this week. "You can see that the water comes down here, makes this turn to the east and floods everybody," Larry Smith said. "You got all this vacant land over here that's dry, but where they divert the water -- into the houses. It makes no sense at all." He added that he and Ruth might consider legal action over the flood damage. Meanwhile, Bob and Donna Smith were some of the fortunate residents.
